I have travelled up and down Lapworth flight many times, where at the lock just above the midway moorings there is a small basin where these boats moored. These have always fascinated me – even in their slightly decrepit state. It is sad in some ways that wooden boats are a rare thing on the canals nowadays compared to their steel brothers. However, the weathering on these boats enhanced their interest and showed their layered history.
