Based upon a photo taken in c1920. The atmosphere is heavy with the feeling of smog and grime. You can imagine the working narrowboats plying their trade, hauling cargo of coal to the surrounding factories. I found this image more powerful for the lack of a human subject in the image, although you can see the housing cheek to jowl with the heavy industry that gave the name to the Black Country.
